液體內任意一點的絕對壓力(absolutepressure)p可以下式計之：p＝patm＋ρgd式中之patm表示自由液面(freesurface)上的大氣壓力(atmosphericpressure)，而ρgd表示靜水壓力(hydrostaticpresure)，其中ρ表示液體的質量密度(massdensity)；
g表示重力加速度；
而d表示壓力p之量測點距自由液面的深度(depth)。
若一液體中之物體所受的壓力完全來自靜水壓力則該壓力即為全靜水壓力，全壓點(stagnationpoint)處，即屬之。
