與原子核相關的，而非包括電子的整個原子，如核子武器(nuclearweapons)、核子動力(nuclearpower)、核能(nuclearenergy)、核能工業(nuclearindustry)等。
nuclearpowerplant核能電廠以核子反應爐產生電力的發電廠，廠內的核子反應爐稱為核能機組(nuclearpowerunit)，現全世界有四百四十多座民用機組，以美國的一百一十座居首。
